Time-out from Cambodian Water Project to Visit PQ
Posted by: | CommentsYINXZON is from the Bay Area and spent six weeks this summer as part of a SEALNet (Southeast Asian Service Leadership Network) project to promote the use of water filtration in Cambodia. In mid-August, he took time-out to explore ViệtNam. After thanking a bus from HCM City to Rạch Giá, he founds it nearly impossible to get a ticket for the boat trip to PQ without a reservation. He finally buys one from a scalper – gets to PQ only to find it a challenge to get a hotel room without a reservation. He ended-up staying at Khach San A74 Hotel (72 ð tran hung dao, Long Beach). While on PQ, he tried fried snake and snake soup (wasn’t impressed by either) and was offered a strange fish with feet. Before leaving, YINXZON climbed
to the beautiful waterfalls and swam.

Posted by: | CommentsHelen leaves HCM City for Spring Break on PQ. They enjoy hour-long massages on the beach for US$4.00 and do an all-day boat snorkeling trip.
Luke & Katie Find the Sound of Silence on PQ
Posted by: | CommentsLuke and Katie teach English in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. In March they had a week off and wanted to see something off the beaten path – so they flew to PQ. And are glad they did: “All we wanted to do was lay on the beach for the first few days. This place couldn’t have been better. Not only was our room 20 feet from the beach…but there was nothing around us in any direction. We were far enough from the road that there was no sound except for the water. For the first time in months it was quiet. I can’t tell you how bizarre that was” they write.
Lovely long white beaches, turquoise sea, palm trees, sunshine…
Posted by: | CommentsMalinsaga is 33-years-old, from Sweden who quit her job as a scientist in London last year to fulfill her dream to travel in SouthEast Asia. She was pleased to be able to walk along the beach for km after km of white sand and rarely see a house or another person. She stayed in a “super clean, big bungalow with bathroom and kitchen” for $8 US per night.
